Maurice Auction presents a private collection of 41 haute couture masterpieces by Jean-Paul Gaultier. The selection of museum-quality garments will be auctioned on the 25th of November during a live event held by the prestigious auction house.
Mouna Ayoub, French businesswoman and one of the world's most distinguished couture clients, opens the doors to her wardrobe for this highly exclusive sales event.
Just last year, the socialite shared her equally impressive collection of couture pieces in the ‘Golden Years of Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel’ auction, which included an iconic Spring-Summer 1992 gown.

In the couturier's hometown of Paris, the sale boasts a selection of Jean-Paul Gaultier's finest high-fashion garments. The now-retired designer celebrated extravagance with his haute couture lines and quickly became renowned amongst fashion critics for his meticulous craftsmanship and unconventional designs—some of which are available to purchase during this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Mouna Ayoub’s 41-lot collection, dating back to the 90s, features pieces from Gaultier’s 1998 haute couture designs through to the later 2023 shows. The selection of garments is a testament to Jean-Paul Gaultier’s sartorial style and Ayoub’s admiration for fine couture. Yet, her reason for taking this coveted curation to auction? That she simply no longer wears them.
Mouna Ayoub felt “it was the right time to sell” and remarked, “Selling them by auction—people would be able to fully appreciate the art and knowhow of the JPG House.” She believes the pieces within her impeccable collection are designed to be worn and that their future owners will enjoy the beauty of these pre-loved garments as much as she once did.
Whilst some of the gowns were worn by Mouna herself on red carpets, other pieces are yet to be tried on. The fashion aficionado famously wore the 1930s-inspired ‘Paris et Ses Muses’ gown from Gaultier’s Autumn/Winter 2000 collection to the 54th Cannes Film Festival.
However, her self-professed favourite amongst the garments is Lot 6, a denim and ostrich feather evening dress from Gaultier’s ‘Divine Jacqueline’ Summer 1999 couture collection, with an approximate sales value of €35,000.
“Most of them are museum pieces, so I wanted to share with as many people as possible what couture represents through my eyes and through the eyes of the House of Gaultier,” Mouna Ayoub shared about her collection.
Mouna Ayoub’s collection also comprises some of Gaultier’s most exquisitely crafted creations, such as a Scottish-inspired gown from the Autumn/Winter 1998/99 show. The ‘trick of the eye’ ensemble features an entirely hand-beaded tartan pattern, designed to imitate the woollen fabric of a traditional kilt.
For those that share Mouna Ayoub’s discerning taste for haute couture, this one-of-a-kind auction event is an exciting opportunity. “Most of them are museum pieces, so I wanted to share with as many people as possible what couture represents through my eyes and through the eyes of the House of Gaultier,” she expresses.
This exquisite collection, courtesy of Madame Ayoub, pays homage to the rich history and incredible legacy of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s fine couture career and his lavish gowns, garments, and accessories from some of fashion's most iconic eras.
