Founded in 1643, on the threshold of the reign of Louis XIV, Trudon is the oldest
candlemaker in the world that’s still active today. With a rich a storied history, throughout
the 17th century, the manufacturer became the Royal Wax Manufacturer and official
supplier in the French court, then to Napoléon Bonaparte.
Fast forward, and today Trudon enlists well-known “noses” to create perfumes for the
stories it wishes to tell. Each candle is still made by hand in its Normandy factory --
perpetuating a luxury manufacturing process that was championed by its founder,
Claude Trudon.
To celebrate the royal legacy of orange blossom, Trudon has launched its latest in the form
of Absolu. Available now, Trudon pays homage to the flower, exalted by Tonka bean and a
hint of saffron that’s warm and a little spicy.
Born from the royal legacy of Orange Blossom, Louis XIV was passionate about perfumes
and preferred the sweet and soothing smell of Orange Blossom to Amber or Musk, as did
Marie-Antoinette who used orange blossom in her beauty products and as a toner for her
nerves.
“Orange Blossom is the flower with the broadest emotional spectrum. Combined with
certain ingredients, it can remind us of certain scents full of innocence from our childhood,
or evoke the most irresistible sensuality. For me, it is the most universal flower among all
the white flowers in perfumery, the one that traverses history, is celebrated by many
personalities and accompanies our lives through its transgenerational dimension. It
deserves a new celebration, a perfume of its own, celestial and modern,” says perfumer
Antoine Lie.
Absolu Eau De Parfum is now available via trudon.com.
