Loro Piana Celebrates 100 years with Harrods Pop-Up

Italian luxury brand Loro Piana has opened its ‘Workshop of Wonders’ within the prestigious Harrods department store, celebrating a century of craftsmanship with an array of pop-up installations and enchanting window displays.

Founded in 1924, Loro Piana quickly gained a reputation in the textile industry for sourcing the finest wool and cashmere in the world. Today, the brand is a cornerstone of luxury fashion, known for its ready-to-wear collections crafted from premium fibres, such as cashmere from baby goats in Mongolia and the exclusive ‘The Gift of Kings®’ merino wool—both symbols of refined luxury.

With 30 categories in their ready-to-wear collection, Loro Piana’s portfolio combines timeless style and savoir-faire, showcasing the highest standards of Italian craftsmanship. By 2024, the brand had expanded its product line to include refined homeware and a collection of fashion jewellery, appealing to its discerning clientele.

In honour of their 100th anniversary, Loro Piana has created an immersive experience in the heart of Harrods. The journey begins with a captivating light display on the iconic Brompton Road façade, where a 17-metre tree wrapped in Loro Piana’s precious cashmere and adorned with exclusive ornaments symbolises the journey of their fibres, illuminating the entire storefront.

Beneath the dazzling lights, all 36 of Harrods’ windows have been transformed to reflect the Italian Maison’s origins.

Designed by CEO Damien Bertrand and his team, the windows feature moving scenes, clouds of cashmere, and depictions of baby goats, evoking Loro Piana’s early workshops from the 1920s. Bertrand shared that his goal was to showcase the journey “from sheep to shop,” brought to life through these charming displays.

Inside Harrods, exclusive collections and festive events await those who wish to explore Loro Piana’s world further. Inspired by the enduring bond between Loro Piana and Harrods, the brand’s limited-edition holiday collection can be discovered within its boutique, featuring seasonal ready-to-wear items, bags, accessories, and homeware crafted from the brand’s finest heirloom fibres.

The immersive experience continues with two special pop-ups, ‘Door 6’ and ‘Door 9,’ which capture the festive spirit. At Door 6, visitors can select from signature pieces, including the iconic Grande Unita fringed cashmere scarf, which can be monogrammed for a truly personalised gift. Door 9 offers an interactive workshop that honours the brand's dedication to craftsmanship, where guests can create a holiday ornament made from Loro Piana’s luxurious cashmere.

The centenary celebrations also mark the debut of Loro Piana’s ‘Art of Good Living’ homeware collection at Harrods. This dedicated pop-up showcases the full range, including exclusive items to welcome the season’s magic.

Reflecting on Loro Piana’s legacy, CEO Damien Bertrand shared that those involved with the maison “are all part of this beautiful chain of hands that transform raw materials into unique products, each with a touch of the artisan’s soul.” The immersive takeover at Harrods captures the joy of the festive season while celebrating the heritage and artistry that define Loro Piana’s esteemed legacy.

Loro Piana’s ‘Workshop of Wonders’ will be at Harrods from 7th November to 2nd January 2025.
